TITLE

Education Scheme for Confucius Institute Scholarship Students (One-Academic-Year Study Students)

I. Eligibility

The applicant should own a non-Chinese citizenship, be quipped with basic Chinese language ability, in good health, with no criminal records and under the age of 35.

The following documents should be submitted upon application:

1. Digital photo;

2. Passport copy (photo page);

3. Study proposal;

4. HSK and HSKK score report (HSK level 2 score minimum 120, HSKK beginner level score minimum 40)

5.Recommendation letter of Confucius Institute

6.Highest degree/diploma (notarized)

7.Scan of applicant’s signature

8.Valid contact address and phone number

 

II. Training Objectives

The training program will put emphasize on practical Chinese teaching. Through one-semester Chinese language courses including listening, speaking, reading and writing, the scholarship students will be able to build a vocabulary of 2500 words’ volume of characters, further their understanding of Chinese language and culture, which will enable them to communicate in daily life, study and work.

 

III. Teaching Plan

Hubei university plan to set up representative language curriculum such as comprehensive Chinese, Chinese reading, Chinese listening, and audio-visual Chinese, and give series of Chinese culture classes such as Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, Taichi, etc. There will also be series of culture experience activities and social practical activities such as Chinese porcelain culture experience in Jingdezhen, Taichi culture experience in the Wudang Mountains, Three Gorges cultural heritage experience in Yichang, and traditional Chinese festival experiences, through which the learners can improve their knowledge of traditional Chinese culture outside classrooms. 

In one semester, not including out-door culture activities, there will be 20 teaching hours’ in-class activity every week, reaching a total of 320 teaching hours per semester.
