Professor Kevin Peter Homewood Won the “Chime Bell Award”from Hubei Provincial Government

The "Chime Bell Award" award ceremony of Hubei Provincial Government in 2017-2019 was held on the morning of January 6. Wang Xiaodong, deputy secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and governor of the province, presented awards to the recipients. Professor Kevin Peter Homewood from School of Material Science and Engineering in Hubei University was awarded that prize.

 

Professor Kevin Peter Homewood spoke as the representative of the recipients. His speech included more than three years’life in Wuhan of being surrounded by friendly and warm-hearted people here, and sensation of greatly touched by the unremitting support of Hubei University in scientific research and daily life. Hence, he was willing to spread Chinese stories and deliver warmth as a cultural exchange envoy.

 

Joined in Hubei University in 2017, Professor Kevin Peter Homewood has been integrated into, rooted in and dedicated to the school. Not only had he participated in the school's teaching, scientific research, international scientific and technological cooperation, but also promoted Hubei University to international level in new energy and new materials. During his tenure, Professor Kevin Peter Homewood, as the academic director,  organized and applied for the "Intelligence Introduction for Innovation at Chinese Universities for Green Technology of Energy Capture and Environmental Sensing" and was successfully approved, realizing the breakthrough of the national foreign professional platform of the University. When free from scientific research, he participated in the targeted poverty alleviation visits organized by Hubei University, making contribution to the scientific and technological services in Hubei Province to promote poverty alleviation. In October 2019, Professor Kevin Peter Homewood was invited to attend the 70th anniversary of the National Day and was cordially received by Han Zheng, the Vice Premier of the State Council.

 

It is reported that the "Chime Bell Award" was set up by the People's Government of Hubei Province in 1994 to reward foreign scientific researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the economic and social development of the province. It is the highest award awarded by the Hubei Provincial Government to foreign high-level scholars. Professor Kevin Peter Homewood is the first expert in Hubei University who win the award.
