In the track and field competition of the Second Youth Games of China held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province from 14 to 18 August, HUBU students won 2 gold and 1 silver in the competition.
The 2nd National Youth Games is an important event held under the historical mission of preparing for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 and the Beijing Winter Olympic Games in 2022. It is also the first large-scale comprehensive event that combines summer and winter games, which is an important platform for displaying the comprehensive sport strength and inspection of reserved sport talents for provinces and cities.
The Hubei delegation selected 879 participants out of 107 teams and 1406 athletes in the preliminary contest to participate in the finals of the Second National Youth Games. Lu Liang from the School of Physical Education, Hubei University, participated in 100-m dash, 4x100m relay and 4x200m relay. Lu Liang won the second prize in the 100-meter dash with 10.48 seconds and reached the standard of athletic master. Later in 4x100m and 4x200m relay, Lu Liang won two championships in close cooperation with his teammates.
