China-Africa Future Leaders Delegation visits Hubei University

Jacques Jean Luc NYANGA, Ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to China, led a delegation of 19 people including the China-Africa Future Leaders to visit Hubei University on December 11. In attendance at the welcoming ceremony were Ji Yongjun, Director General of the Department of Asian & African Affairs of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Lin Nan, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People's Government, Liu Jianping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hubei University Committee and President of Hubei University, and Li Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee. Representatives from other departments and faculties, as well as students, took part in the event.

Liu Jianping extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the collaborations between Hubei University and its African counterparts, highlighting the achievements of the Confucius Institute with the Universidade de São Tomé e Príncipe. He expressed that Hubei University was ready to be a partner of Africa on its journey to explore modernization by opening up international exchange and cooperation opportunities, initiating cultural activities and advancing academic exchanges and scientific research collaborations in fields such as biomedicine, ecological conservation and public health. Liu welcomed administrative leaders from African countries to join in short-term training programs or pursue academic degrees at Hubei University, and expressed his hope that the young friends in the delegation would serve as bridges, contributing wisdom and vigor to the effort of building a community with a shared future for humankind.

Jacques Jean Luc NYANGA extended his gratitude for the warm reception. He noted that Hubei University has a long-standing friendship with African universities. He expressed his hope that the university would leverage its strengths and features in talent cultivation and scientific research to promote technical exchanges and cooperation for talent development with African governments, institutions, and universities. He looked forward to a closer tie between Chinese and African youth in people-to-people exchanges and scientific research collaborations, thereby making contributions to social development.

Chinese and African youth engaged in a dialogue centered around "Be Partners for People-to-people Exchanges", sharing their visions and accomplishments. During their visit, the delegation experienced the charm of China's intangible cultural heritage and witnessed Hubei University's efforts in carrying forward Chinese culture and promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning. Faculty and students from Hubei University were also invited to engage in art performances and other activities featuring both Chinese and African youth, which was a delightful interaction between the two sides.
