Farewell to the old by firecrackers, and welcome to the new by gongs and drums during the Lantern Festival! The Lantern Festival fell on February 26 this year, and Liu Jianping, president of Hubei University, together with director of Overseas Students Affairs Office celebrated the Lantern Festival and welcomed the beginning of school with overseas teachers and students together. The purpose of this activity is to carry forward the traditional Chinese customs, to enhance the understanding of Chinese culture and to show concern for overseas teachers and students.
Liu Jianping sends greetings and blessings to all foreign teachers and students on behalf of Hubei University. Lantern Festival is of great significance in China, which symbolizes reunion and happiness. He hopes every overses teachers and students can make it home at Hubei University.
After watching the documentary about the origin and customs of the Lantern Festival, the teachers and students wrap, cook and tast Tangyuan together. Then, Brazilian student Ma Feilong gives a wonderful martial arts show. Even though outdoor is cold rain and strong wind, indoor is full of laughter and warmth. The teachers and students present grab a deeper understanding of traditional customs of Chinese Spring Festival, and get into a warm atmosphere of family reunion.
