On October 22, the International Symposium on China-Latin American Relations and the press conference of Huang Banghe Anthology were held in Hubei University. More than 70 scholars from China and Latin American countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile attended the symposium.

Luis Antonio Paulino, President of Confucius Institute of Sao Paulo State University in Brazil and Shang Gang, party secretary of Hubei University delivered speeches at the opening ceremony respectively. Shang Gang hoped that this symposium can contribute a lot to the relation between China and Brazil and China-Latin American relations.

President Luis Antonio Paulino pointed out that Hubei University was a pioneer in the study of Brazilian history in China. This symposium can deepen the understanding and friendship between China and Brazil.

After the Opening Ceremony, Huang Banghe anthology, jointly published by Changjiang Publishing House and Huda Publishing House, was released. It collected his three essays which comprehensively reflected Huang Banghe's ideological process and academic achievements.

During the seminar on China-Latin American relations, scholars from China and Latin American countries discussed issues such as China-Latin American economic and trade cooperation, China-Latin American people to people and cultural exchanges.

In the early 1960s, under the leadership of Professor Huang Banghe, Hubei University carried out the study of Brazilian history, translated and published the first Russian version of Brazilian history in China. In recent years, Hubei University has set up Brazil research center, Portuguese Major and other related study programs. Hubei University has successively published two Brazil national annual development reports, namely Brazil Yellow Book: Brazil Development Report 2016 and Brazil Development Report (2017-2018).
