The new year greeting event was hosted by Hubei University on January 18. Through a series of activities showcasing traditional Chinese culture, international faculty and students felt the warmth and care from Hubei university, and immersed themselves in the charm of the Chinese New Year. The event promoted Chinese and foreign cultures exchange and integration. Liu Zhihong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee and Vice President of Hubei University, attended the event.
On behalf of Hubei University, Liu Zhihong extended the warmest Spring Festival greetings to international faculty and students. He expressed his hope that international teachers would continue to open perspectives and innovative thinking, and jointly paving the way for a new chapter in international education. For international students, he encouraged deeper integration into Hubei University featuring diverse culture, encouraging them to not only become enthusiasts and ambassadors of Chinese culture, but also serve as bridges connecting different civilizations and promoting international friendship.

At the site, the calligraphy activity became a major highlight. Under the patient guidance of calligraphy teachers, international faculty and students wrote Chinese characters stroke by stroke, experiencing the charm of calligraphy art. Despite their unfamiliar brushstrokes, their love and respect for calligraphy shone through their expressions.
Traditional Chinese Paper-cutting Art has also sparked widespread interest. With just a pair of scissors and a sheet of red paper, teachers and students, with their skilled hands, turned the paper into auspicious Chinese character “福”(meaning “blessing”),window paper cuttings, and other designs. They expressed that it was their first time to try paper-cutting, and they found it both novel and enjoyable. At the same time, it deepened their understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditional culture.

During the dumpling-making activity, international faculty and students rolled up their sleeves alongside canteen staff, all engrossed in the joy of making dumplings. As plate after plate of steaming hot dumplings were served on the table, everyone gathered around, savoring the dumplings they had made with their own hands, and experiencing the homely flavor and festive warmth of the Chinese Spring Festival. The international faculty and students shared that, despite being in a foreign land, they felt the care and warmth extended by the school, making this a memorable experience for them.
