To celebrate the 16^th United Nations Chinese Language Day, the 2025 Hubei International Chinese Language Day was successfully held at Hubei University on April 26 . The event was co-hosted by Hubei University and the International Chinese Language Education Branch of Hubei Provincial Education Association for International Exchange (HEAIE).

Lu Jinyuan, Vice President of Hubei Provincial Education Association for International Exchange（HEAIE）, and Li Zhen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee and Vice President of Hubei University, attended the event. Representatives from HEAIE, as well as Chinese and international faculty and students from over 20 universities across Hubei Province—including Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central China Normal University, and Wuhan University of Technology—participated in the exchange activities.

Li Zhen extended a warm welcome to the guests on behalf of Hubei University. He emphasized that as the world’s most widely spoken language, the Chinese language plays a crucial role in fostering exchange and cooperation between China and other countries around the world. Hubei University, with its profound foundation in Chinese language diciplines, abundant international Chinese faculty resources, and continuous efforts to deepen cultural exchanges, remains committed to promoting Chinese civilization and Chinese language education. Going forward, Hubei University will leverage the International Chinese Language Day as an opportunity to establish this event as a prominent brand for promoting Jingchu Culture and enhancing international friendship. By further strengthening international cooperation, Hubei University advances the internationalization of Chinese language education and contribute to fostering mutual learning among diverse cultures worldwide.

The Award Ceremony of Creative Chinese Character Writing Contest for International Students in Hubei Province was held during the event. International students received honors such as the Best Calligraphy Award, Best Performance Award, and Most Creative Award. Relevant criteria emphasized not only the writing skills of Chinese characters, but also thorough understanding of Chinese characters, and its innovative expressions. Meanwhile, the judging panel highlighted the submissions’ exceptional quality and creativity, which demonstrats international students’reflections and creativity in learning Chinese.

Accompanied by the chorus Ruyuan ( As Wished ), all the participants engaged in the activity of “Co-creating the Chinese Character ‘Han’”, completing a massive calligraphic work of the Chinese character “Han” that symbolizes unity, friendship, and cultural inheritance. It embodies the continuous integration and harmonious co-existence of Chinese and global cultures through exchanges.

Following the ceremony, the 2025 Hubei International Chinese Language Education Collaboration Mechanism Conference convened. The director of Hubei University’s International Office delivered a work report on behalf of HEAIE’s International Chinese Language Education Branch. Representatives from universities in Hubei shared innovative practices and valuable experience in international Chinese language education, covering teaching reforms, curriculum development, national conditions education practice, digital intelligence-driven talent cultivation, and cross-cultural communication. The participants held in-depth discussion on issues of mutual concern and outlined the future direction for international Chinese language education.

In the closing speech of the 2025 Hubei International Chinese Language Education Collaboration Mechanism Conference, Lu Jinyuan acknowledged the conference’s fruitful results and expressed that in the future, we would continue to expand the scope of international Chinese language education, improve teaching quality，and play a greater role in cultural exchanges, thereby contributing Hubei’s strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
