April 17, the 9th Hubei Provincial College Art and Design Exhibition, which is sponsored by Hubei Provincial Department of Education and Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, kicked off in Wuhan city. The works from our School of Art won two first prizes and one second prize.
Personalized Wine Packaging
The work “Personalized Wine Packaging” by Associate Professor Yu Mengjie and students Cao Yuxin and Shi Tongrui from the discipline of Visual Communication Design won the first prize in the Design Teacher Category. The work designed the font of “wine” with the graphic elements of Jingchu culture, such as phoenix birds, chimes and auspicious clouds, and with dark blue as the main color, light yellow as the complementary color, to create a wine packaging design full of regional culture and high-end private customization. The wine packaging is made of environmentally friendly paper, wood and other materials, guided by the concept of environmental protection.
Compilation of Illustrations of Qi Culture Stories
The work, designed by Associate Professor Liu Man from the Discipline of Visual Communication Design, “A Compilation of Illustrations of Qi Culture Stories”, won the second prize in the Design Teacher Category. The work presents the idiom stories happened in Qi area on 12 stone pillars, and draws on the style of Qi portrait stones and use a technique of bas-relief. The work is applied in Linzi North Station of Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway, which is located in Linzi, Shandong Province, the birthplace of Qi culture. It plays the role of promoting Qi culture, and is reported by CCTV, Qilu TV and many other media.
Cultural and Creative Design about Zhongshan Park
Students Cao Yuxin and Shi Tongrui’s work “Cultural and Creative Design about Zhongshan Park” won the first prize in the Design Student Category. The work redraws the iconic sculptures of Wuhan Zhongshan Park and develops creative products to show the unique flavor of Zhongshan Park, which can be easily disseminated among citizens and tourists. Guided by the concept of environmental protection, it is made of biodegradable and recyclable materials.
It is reported that this art exhibition received nearly 6,800 pieces of art, design and photography works submitted by college teachers and students in Hubei Province. The wide range and high participation represent the creative level of teachers and students in colleges and universities and reflect the vigorous development of higher education in art and design in Hubei Province. A total of 242 pieces art works, 260 pieces of design works and 143 pieces of photography works were selected to win awards.
