Hubei University, together with China University of Geosciences and International Chinese Language Education Branch of Hubei Provincial Education Association for International Exchange/Hubei Provincial Confucius Institute Alliance, held several celebrations to mark the Hubei International Chinese Language Day 2024 on April 20 at Hubei University. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Confucius Institutes and the 15th United Nations Chinese Language Day, Polish Director of the Confucius Classroom of Hubei University-Jagiellonian Academy, representatives from Hubei Provincial Education Association for International Exchange and over 800 Chinese and international teachers and students from over 10 universities in Hubei Province presented at the event.

On behalf of Hubei University, Xie Hongxing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hubei University, extended warm welcome to all the guests. He emphasized that the Hubei International Chinese Language Day 2024 provides a platform for Chinese enthusiasts to experience the charm of Chinese language and culture and boost their understanding of China. Taking this opportunity, Hubei University will accelerate the internationalization of Chinese language education, better tell China’s stories, make China’s voice heard, to build Hubei International Chinese Language Day into a famous brand of spreading Jing-chu culture and promoting friendship between China and other countries.

The event ran promotions of culture and tourism of Hubei Province. Cultural and tourism promotion publicists and international students shared their deep interpretation of tourism highlights in 12 cities in Hubei including Wuhan, Huangshi, Shiyan, presented a particular view of the deep cultural foundations of the cities in Hubei with their unique perspectives and feelings.

“The Rise of Loong and the Harmony of Hubei” Gala Performance was held in the assembly hall of Hubei University as the grand finale. The performance was divided into 6 parts, which were themed Poem of Loong, Music of Loong, Kung Fu and Dance of Loong, Costume of Loong, Science and Technology of Dragon and Rising of Loong. Representatives of teachers and student at home and abroad, from universities in Hubei such as Central China Normal University, South-Central Minzu University, and Hubei University, depicted these themes through various performances, promoting integration and interaction between different cultures and jointly pursuing the vision of mutual learning among civilizations.
