The Latin American and Caribbean countries’ diplomatic envoys delegation visits Hubei University

A delegation composed of diplomatic envoys from 14 Latin American and Caribbean countries to China, along with medias from 17 countries,paid a visit to Hubei University on April 25, 2024. Qu Yuhui, Deputy Director General of the Latin America and Caribbean Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Xiaolin, Counsellor of The Department of Press, Communication and Public Diplomacy, as well as Liu Jianping, President of Hubei University and Deputy Secretary of CPC Hubei University Committee, attended the event. Also present at the event were representatives from relevant departments of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, directors from relevant departments of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People's Government, Hubei University, Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology and Central China Normal University, along with teachers and students from China and Latin American and Caribbean countries.

In his speech, Liu Jianping extended warm welcome to guests, and introduced the development of Hubei University. He hoped to deepen the cooperation between Hubei University and Latin American universities, in the field of joint cultivation of talents, co-construction of research platform as well as cultural exchange and mutual learning.

On behalf of diplomatic envoys, Aldonov Frankeko Álvarez, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador to China, expressed gratitude for warm reception. He hoped to further strengthen communication and dialogue, explore new paths of education cooperation. He also hoped that young people from Latin America give full play to their role as bridges for exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to friendship and cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Representatives of Chinese and international teachers and students from Hubei University, Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology and Central China Normal University shared their experiences living and studying in Wuhan.  Michael Campbell, Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to China, Ian Joseph Marshall, Ambassador of Grenada to China, and José Díaz, chargé d'affaires ad interim of Embassy of the Republic of Colombia, stated that exchange and cooperation between Hubei and Latin America has promising prospect. They hoped that more Latin American students could come to Hubei on exchange and study programs, and expected further in-depth exchanges and cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries in various fields.
