Delegation of Young Scholars from High-end Latin American Think Tanks visits Hubei University

Delegation of young scholars from High-end Latin American Think Tanks, composed of 16 young scholars from 11 Latin American and the Caribbean countries, paid a visit to Hubei University and participated in China-Latin American Think Tank Symposium on May 27, 2024.

Liu Jianping, President of Hubei University extended a warm welcome to the visitors, and introduced the development of Hubei University and its advantages in internationalization. He expected to enhance all-round exchanges and cooperation with High-end Latin American Think Tanks, especially with young scholars, in joint cultivation of talents, co-construction of scientific research platforms, and cultural exchanges and mutual learning, make new contributions to building a China-LAC community with a shared future.

José Ramón Cabañas, head of delegation, Director of the Center for International Politics Research (CIPI), former Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Cuba,  stated that China has been following the China-LAC studies with great concern, and yielding fruitful results and accumulating rich experience. He hoped to enhance dialogue and mutual understanding, to explore more cooperation possibility in Chinese teaching and academic exchanges for better cultural exchanges. He also expected to expand academic research and cooperation in fields like finance, trade and investment, sharing the technological achievements with the world.

During the symposium, young scholars from China and Latin America shared their research results on “new quality productive forces”. Professor Nie Jun, Dean of the Economics and Management School of Wuhan University, emphasized the concept, characteristics and challenges of new quality productive forces. Professor Wu Hongying interpreted new opportunities in China-LAC cooperation brought by new quality productive forces. Danielle Zulques from Brazil, Juan Manazzoni from Argentina, Francisco Urdinez Gaviot from Chile, María Mercedes Canese from Paraguay, Almir Lima Nascimento from Brazil put forward a series of comprehensive, strategic and operable academic suggestion, denoting that they would continue to carry out deeper academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, to contribute wisdom to the sustainable and stable development of China-LAC comprehensive cooperative partnership.
