From September to early October 2023, Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) co-founded by Hubei University held a series of activities to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. The events offered an environment for faculties and students from Hubei University, overseas Chinese and local residents fully immersing in Chinese culture,eliciting a warm response.
Confucius Institute at Sao Paulo State University successively hosted activities such as Brazilian sub-venue of Chinese Food Culture Exhibition by Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Mid-Autumn Festival Garden Parties, Chinese Cultural Experience Workshop, Mid-Autumn Festival Short Video Competition, Light Show Celebrating China's National Day and Youth Chorus. These activities have attracted over 500,000 participants, including overseas Chinese and Brazilian friends, creating a lively atmosphere. Participants remarked that despite the vast distance between China and Brazil, they were able to experience authentic Chinese culture and appreciate the diversity of Chinese festive traditions. These cultural activities have become an important window for understanding China.
The Confucius Classroom at Jagiellonian College in Poland held a themed cultural event, “Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival 2023.” The event featured a variety of activities, including Chinese choir performances, Guzheng solos, colored ribbon dragon performances, cultural experiences, and food tastings, attracting enthusiastic participation from teachers, students, and local residents. The Confucius Classroom teachers also prepared moon cakes in advance for students and local residents to enjoy.
The Confucius Institute at University of Sao Tome and Principe held a cultural event themed “To Enjoy the Full Moon on Mid-Autumn Festival”. Volunteer teachers explained the cultural significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival to the students in an engaging manner, using videos to vividly present Mid-Autumn traditions. The students listened attentively, eagerly participated in a Mid-Autumn knowledge quiz, recited poetry, enjoyed tea, and ate moon cakes together, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere.
