Hubei University and East China Normal University jointly established the Research Center for Open Source Ecosystem Innovation and Digital Intelligent Governance on December 23, with its inauguration ceremony held at Hubei University Conference Center. The event also attracted experts and scholars from other universities and institutions, including Northeastern University, Wuhan University, Beihang University, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Hubei Provincial Big Data Center. Dong Aijun, director of Software and Information Services Industry Division of Department of Economy and Information Technology of Hubei Province, and Li Zhen, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

After expressing his gratitude to leaders at all levels, experts and scholars for their presence, Li Zhen briefly outlined how Hubei University had actively engaged in the development of open source ecosystem as well as conducted research on open source and its application in teaching.
On behalf of East China Normal University, co-founder of the research center, Zhou Aoying illustrated the essence and merits of open source ecosystem, and pointed out the spontaneity, commercial value of open source as well as its strategic role in sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening of China.
Dong Aijun extended warm congratulations on the launch of the Research Center for Open Source Ecosystem Innovation and Digital-Intelligent Governance and introduced the development landscape of Hubei’s software industry.
You Lan, director of the research center and professor at Hubei University, and Wang Wei, professor from East China Normal University, reported on the preparation of the center and its future development plans respectively.
