São Paulo State University Executive Vice President leads delegation to visit Hubei University

A five-member delegation from São Paulo State University, led by Executive Vice President César Martins, Vice President for Scientific Research Edson Cocchieri Botelho, and Brazilian Director of the Confucius Institute Luís Antonio Paulino, paid a visit to Hubei University on September 6. The delegation was warmly received by Liu Zhihong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee and Vice President of Hubei University.

Liu Zhihong stated that Hubei University and São Paulo State University forged their bond through the joint effort of establishing Confucius Institute at Sao Paulo State University.  Over the past 18 years, the two universities have overcome geographical barriers, worked hand-in-hand to achieve fruitful outcomes in language teaching, talent development, academic exchanges, and mutual learning among civilizations. Especially since 2024, there have been frequent high-level mutual visits between the two universities, and the cooperative exchanges have been in-depth and pragmatic. Hubei University values its friendship with São Paulo State University and expressed the hope that the two universities will further strengthen exchanges, expand cooperation areas, deepen friendship, and compose a new chapter in the cooperative development of higher education between China and Brazil.


César Martins noted that the two universities have a solid foundation for cooperation and frequent interactions. São Paulo State University will further enhance exchanges and cooperation with Hubei University, jointly manage the Confucius Institute well, promote the implementation of the co-established Chinese language program, and carry out in-depth cooperation in fields such as regional and international studies, life sciences, history and culture, public administration, and philosophy.

During their visit, the delegation led by César Martins also held discussions with relevant departments and schools on matters concerning enrollment and teaching of the co-established Chinese language program, joint training  programs of master's and doctoral students, and the co-construction of scientific research platforms. The delegation also toured the Institute of Regional and International Studies.
