Hubei University Delegation visits universities in New Zealand and Australia

Xie Hongxing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hubei University,led a six-member delegation to visit universities in New Zealand and Australia from September 13 to 20, aiming to promote international exchanges and cooperation.

In New Zealand, Xie Hongxing visited the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand and held talks with Counselor Tang Yun and other officials, exchanging views on cooperation in education, culture and other fields. He also visited Wellington Institute of Technology, exchanged opinions with Vice Chancellor Mary-Claire Procter and other representatives on student and faculty exchange, academic collaboration and other matters, and signed an inter-university Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

In Australia, Xie Hongxing held talks with Deputy Minister of Education of Queensland and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Queensland, conducting in-depth discussions on further promoting cooperation in science and technology, education, culture and other fields. He also visited Deakin University to further deepen bilateral cooperation. Building on the previous joint educational programs, both sides agree to  strengthen practical cooperation in fields such as environmental engineering, life sciences, cyberspace security, and integrated circuits. With Vice Chancellor Thomas Roach of Southern Cross University and other representatives, Xie  reached consensuses on joint talent cultivation and research collaboration in fields like life sciences and environmental science, and signed a student co-training agreement.

During the visit, the delegation also visited Victoria University of Wellington, University of Notre Dame Australia, and University of Sydney, and met with alumni representatives. Directors from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, School of Life Science, School of Resources and Environmental Science, School of Cyberspace Security, and School of Integrated Circuits participated in the activities.
