On November 12th, word arrived of a triumph from the North Lion Freestyle Event venue of the 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China: Representing Hubei Province, the North Lion Team of Hubei University captured the silver medal with their masterful performance of the themed piece “Immortal Elixir.” Their success has brought honor to their home region, Hubei province, historically known as the land of Jingchu.

Spearheaded by eight performers-Xiang Hui, Mei Yijian, Zhou Kang, Kan Hao, Wu Mingyu, Liu Shuang, Zhou Jiale, and Gui Yibo-the North Lion Team, Under the coaching of Mei Linqi and Jiao Jiabo, centered their award-winning routine on the the

me "Two Lions Compete for the Immortal Elixir". During the preparation for the competition, the team members not only mastered traditional high-difficulty stunts such as "human pyramid", "air leap", and " spinning tumbles", but also polished the details around narrativity. Through hundreds of rehearsals refining every detail-from the lion’s shifting expressions and nuanced movements to the perfect sync of sound and picture-the team scrupulously calibrated every detail, ultimately blending traditional folk culture seamlessly into their stage storytelling.

At the competition venue, as soon as the two lions of Hubei University appeared, they captured the attention of the entire audience. With light, probing steps and curious head movements, they portrayed the search for the elixir ； with soaring leaps and interwoven tumbles, they conveyed the force and urgency of seizing it ；and with steady, grounded stances, they embodied the solemn duty of guarding it. The team’s impeccable timing and synergy struck a perfect balance between the North Lion’s classic power and a spellbinding, mythical narrative. Their clear storytelling and compelling artistic expression captivated judges and spectators alike, earning widespread praise.

The members noted that the North Lion Freestyle Event of this National Games has gathered top teams from all provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government across the country, and the competition is extremely fierce. The North Lion Team of Hubei University withstood the pressure and perfectly presented the results of years of hard training on stage.
