“Double Ten Initiative” of Hubei University Promotes County Development

April 21 saw the opening and promoting meeting of “Double Ten Initiative”, which refers to ten industrial technology research institutes that to be set up in ten counties and cities to promote its major industries and ten key industries in Hubei Province. The initiative aims to produce fruitful results from scientific and technological achievements, promote high-quality development of the school, and enhance the local economic and social construction. Attendees were President Liu Jianping and directors of relevant departments, schools and research institutions. The meeting was presided over by vice president Jiang Tao.

 

 


What was fully discussed at the meeting was policies and relevant background information about “Double Ten Initiative”, as well as “Notice on the establishment of County Research Institutions as Macheng Industrial Technology Research Institute”.

 

President Liu Jianping said that “Double Ten Initiative” was regarded as a significant measure by HUBU to improve the mechanism of school’s scientific and technological innovation, explore more ways for transformation of scientific achievements, and improve our ability of serving for society. To achieve this goal, we need to take actions with departments of our school to meet the needs of local governments and enterprises. Besides, it is essential provide support for the program and implement evaluation of performance in our work.

 

At present, Macheng Industrial Technology Research Institute of Hubei University, Lichuan Ecological Industry Research Institute of Hubei University and Huangshi Scientific and Technological Achievements Transformation Center of Hubei University have been established. And in the following period, Hubei university will cooperate with cities like Suizhou, Xiangyang and Shiyan to establish a number of new research institutions and platforms that serve for the integration of government, enterprise, university and research institute.
