November 6^th witnessed the successful conclusion of the Hubei provincial final of the 13th SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest (College English). After intense competition, Gong Jiayu and Tao Ran, two teachers from the School of Foreign Languages of Hubei University, won the grand prizes of Integrated Course Group and Video Course Group respectively. They will participate in the national final on behalf of Hubei Province.

Affected by the epidemic, the Hubei provincial final was held online. During the competition, Gong Jiayu and Tao Ran showed solid language skills, distinctive teaching styles, and excellent on-the-spot adaptability, demonstrating the teaching style of young teachers in Hubei University in the new era.

Gong Jiayu won first place of the Hubei final of the 13^th SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest (College English—Integrated Course). This is the first teaching contest Gong participated in after graduating from Beijing Foreign Studies University. After working in Hubei University for two years, Gong was nominated as one of the Most Charming Young Teachers in Hubei University and enjoys popularity among the students.

Tao Ran won first place of the Hubei final of the 13^th SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest (College English—Video Course). Once served as an interpreter, Tao has played a part in various diplomatic and foreign exchange events. After joining the School of Foreign Languages, she won a provincial second prize of the 6^th Micro-course Contest of Foreign Languages, translated and published The Characteristics of Chinese Cultural Spirit.

Leveraging teaching contests, the School of Foreign Languages substantially promotes research in this area, which in return facilitates teaching in classes. Through this process, the teaching skills of young teachers are cultivated and honed. Such mechanism has been proven effective as teachers won first-places in several high-level contests including SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest and Teaching Contest for College Young Teachers in Hubei Province.

The Hubei provincial final of the 13^th SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest (College English) was spearheaded by the Office of Higher Education of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, hosted by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, co-organized by the Committee of Foreign Languages Teaching of Hubei Association of Higher Education, and organized by the School of Foreign Languages of Hubei University.
