On March 27, the initiating meeting of the national key research and development program "Artificial Design, Synthesis and Application of New Protein Elements" in the discipline of "Synthetic Biology" led by our university was held. Present were consulting expert group headed by Zheng Yuguo, academician of China Engineering Academy and professor of Zhejiang University of Technology, relevant leaders of biological center of Ministry of Science and Technology and Provincial Department of Science and Technology, as well as Liu Jianping, president of Hubei University. Vice President Jiang Tao presided over the meeting.

Liu Jianping delivered a speech on behalf of HUBU. He introduced the basic information of the school and expressed warm welcome and gratitude to all leaders and experts for attending the initiating meeting. He said that in recent years, the university has vigorously promoted the construction of new engineering and new liberal arts, and made great efforts to improve our ability to implement national major strategic plans. Hubei University will strive to make great contribution to the economic and social development.

Jiang Zhengbing, the person in charge of the project and professor of School of Life Sciences of our university, introduced the general idea, objectives, tasks, schedule and progress of the project. The person in charge of different topics reported the implementation and research plan and progress of the project respectively.

Members of the consulting expert group of the project showed their opinions on the specific implementation of the project and put forward suggestions for it. On behalf of the expert group, academician Zheng Yuguo attached great significance to the research, and stressed that the cooperation and innovation among various topics of the project group should be strengthened, and efforts should be made to form relevant integrated scientific and technological achievements, so as to promote scientific and technological innovation in relevant fields.

It is reported that the national key research and development program "Artificial Design, Synthesis and Application of New Protein Elements" in the discipline of "Synthetic Biology" was led by Hubei university, and joined by Tianjin University, East China Normal University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang University and Beijing Chuangteng Technology Co., Ltd.
