The second National Virtue Ethics Forum was held in Hubei University from March 27 to 28. The forum was co-sponsored by the Moral Education Research Center of Tsinghua University, Institute of Ethics and Religions Studies (IERS) of Tsinghua University, the School of Philosophy of Hubei University, Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies of Hubei University, Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center for Chinese Culture Development, editorial department of Journal of Hubei University, and the Hubei Ethics Society. And hosted by School of Philosophy and Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies of Hubei University.

With the theme of “Virtue, Emotion and Normalization”, this forum focuses on the core issues in virtue ethics research. Experts and scholars from Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, East China Normal University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, editorial department of Philosophical Research, Morality and Civilization and Journal of Hubei University attended the forum. Wei Jianguo, vice president of China Ethics Society and professor of Shanxi Normal University; Long Jingyun, president of Hubei Ethics Society and professor of Central China Normal University; Li Yitian, young Changjiang Scholar of the Moral Education Research Center of Tsinghua University and Ministry of education; and Shu Hongyue, dean of School of Philosophy of Hubei University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Professor Jiang Chang, Changjiang Scholar and honorary dean of Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies of Hubei University presided over the opening ceremony.

In the speeches, Wei Jianguo says that it is the best time to promote virtue ethics. Long Jingyun says that virtue ethics is a hot issue in the academic circles, and this forum will be a markable point during the process of the development of virtue ethics. Li Yitian says that he expects the national virtue forum to be held as a regular meeting for a long period of time to strengthen academic exchanges and promote academic research. Shu Hongyue introduces the relevant information of the School of Philosophy and Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies of Hubei University. He expresses the opinion that civic morality in the new era is inseparable from the cultivation of virtues, especially the inheritance and development of traditional virtues. It's the right time for ethical researchers from different colleges and universities across the country to gather together for the issue of virtue.

In the seminar, the experts exchange their point of view respectively on five topics: the distinction between ancient and modern virtue ethics, virtue ethics and emotion, virtue ethics and norms, Confucian virtue ethics and modern virtue ethics and its contemporary responses.
