Teams from Hubei University win 2 golds in the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition(iGEM)

The award ceremony of International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) was held in Paris on November 6. Teams from Hubei University won 2 gold and 2 silver awards respectively, achieving a historic breakthrough for gold award in the competition.

Members of the four teams come from School of Life Sciences, School of Journalism and Communication, Business School, and School of Art. Facing the challenge and long cycles of the competition, members worked together to overcome difficulties.  After the heated competition with 4,300 projects from universities in 66 countries and regions worldwide, they finally stood out.

The iGEM was first hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003. It is currently the world's highest standard and most influential top international university student competition of science and technology in synthetic biology field. Moreover, it is an interdisciplinary competition involving the cross-cooperation of mathematics, computer science, statistics and other fields, and is reputed as "the World Championships in Synthetic Biology".
