Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSP) provided research grants to 108 of the world’s top scientists from 23 nations on April 3, 2024. Professor Li Daiqin at School of Life Sciences, Hubei University, along with three overseas co-researchers applied for the project titled Cognitive convergence: Vertebrate carnivore-like predatory planning behaviors in jumping spiders, which has won the grant of 1.35 million dollars. Professor Li Daiqin is the only university scholar from the Chinese mainland who has been awarded research grant from HFSP.
Professor Li Daiqin team has long been dedicated to the research in the fields of ecology, behaviour and evolution of animals, particularly spiders. He has undertaken 20 general projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and published more than 200 SCI research articles in Science, Science Advances, Current Biology, Systematic Biology, Biological Reviews, Annual Review of Entomology, Proceedings of the Royal Society B, Functional Ecology, Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, Journal of Biogeography and other international academic journals.
