A delegation led by Bertrand Matthäus, an internationally renowned expert in safety and quality of cereals, president of International Association for Cereal Science and Technology (ICC), and director of Federal Research Institute of Nutrition and Food, paid a visit to the Institute of Food Safety at Hubei university on March 29th 2024. Also present at the visit were Li Peiwu, Honorary Dean of the Institute of Food Safety at Hubei University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Liu Jianping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hubei University Committee and President of Hubei University, Lili, a member of Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee, and representatives from Office of Human Resources and Academy of Science and Technology Development at Hubei University.
At the symposium, Li Peiwu extended a warm welcome to Professor Bertrand Matthäus and his delegation, and introduced unique advantages of Hubei University, providing an overview of the ongoing development of Institute of Food Safety at Hubei University. Actively aligning with national strategies for food safety and the Healthy China initiative, Institute of Food Safety at Hubei University undertakes research on food safety and nutrition health, with an expectation of a further cooperation with Professor Bertrand Matthäus.
Bertrand Matthäus expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He recalled the remarkable 17-year-long cooperation with Li Peiwu and his team, and celebrated the establishment of the Institute of Food Safety at Hubei University. Besides, he expected deepening cooperation and talent exchanges in the future with the Institute of Food Safety at Hubei University in food safety and nutrition health.
Liu Jianping appreciated Professor Bertrand Matthäus for his constructive suggestions on the development of the Institute of Food Safety at Hubei University. Hubei University is ready to continue to provide support for the construction and development of the Institute of Food Safety, making dedicated efforts for the advancement of food safety and nutrition health industry in Hubei Province, China.
