Hubei University wins the first prize of China Graduate Electronics Design Contest

The national finals of the 19th “GigaDevice Cup”China Graduate Electronics Design Contest were held at the Wuxi Campus of Southeast University from August 7 to August 10. The contestants from Hubei University, won first prize, second prize and third prize respectively of the technical contest, and one won third prize of the business plan competition, bettering the record for Hubei University in China Graduate Electronics Design Contest. Hubei University won the title of “Excellent Organization Award” and the Professor Wang Meilin, from School of Microelectronics, was named “Excellent Guide Teacher Award”.

The China Graduate Electronics Design Contest is the themed contest of China Postgraduate Innovation & Practice Competitions. Covering cutting-edge disciplines in the field of electronic information, it is a brand competition featuring extensive participant base, broad professional field and high overall value. The contest was directed by Department of Degree Management & Postgraduate Education of Ministry of Education and was co-sponsored by Association of Chinese Graduate Education, Children & Youth Science Center of China Association for Science and Technology and Chinese Institute of Electronics. 

Since the commence of the contest in March, a total of 7,368 teams with more than 26,000 teachers and students from over 310 universities, colleges and research institutes have been attracted to participate in this contest. After the preliminary selection, 582 teams stood out from the 8 competition divisions across the country, with about 2,000 teachers and students competed for the highest award. The proportion of first prize winners in the technical contest and the business plan competition is only 2% and 1.5% respectively, due to the high competitiveness of the contest.
