On the occasion of the 40th Teachers' Day, the lists of 2024 "Jing-chu Most Beautiful Teachers" and "Jing-chu Good Teachers" were released on September 6. Prof. Huang Baiquan, at the School of History and Culture, Hubei University, won the title of "Jing-chu Good Teacher".

Professor Huang Baiquan, dean of the School of History and Culture, Hubei University, is a leading educator and scholar. Professor Huang has dedicated 40 years to ethnological research, by hosting dozens of academic projects on ethnology and publishing a large number of research papers for the benefit of Jingchu people. He engaged in the  communication of ethnic cultures of the Chinese nation, by lecturing on fine traditional culture and Jing-chu culture at different places in China and abroad. As one of the main initiators, Professor Huang spent ten years in compiling and publishing the Encyclopedia of the Tujia Ethnic Group in China with more than 4 million characters. He often says: "I was once a boy of the Tujia ethinc group, came out of mountainous areas by studying hard. I always wanted to do my bit for the education, and protecting and inheriting ethnic culture heritage."

In order to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the PRC founding and the 40th Teachers' Day, and fully demonstrate Hubei's outstanding achievements of cultivating "high-quality and professional" teaching personnel on a new journey in the new era, the Department of Education of Hubei Province has further promoted the implementation of the "The Star Programme of Jing-chu Good Teachers". Aiming at jointly discovering, promoting and selecting a group of  "Jingchu Good Teachers" in the new-era, the programeme  guided teachers to practice and exemplify the spirit of educators, and fostered a strong atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education in the entire society.
