Hubei University held First-Class Discipline Construction Promotion Meeting on September 25, learning and conveying the spirit of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Hubei Provincial People's Government, summarizing the achievements of the previous phase, and outlining the key tasks for the next phase. All the leaders of Hubei University attended the meeting, along with heads of relevant departments and schools. Zhang Tianjin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Hubei University, chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, the biology discipline construction on the current progress of Hubei University was reported, and the Discipline Construction and Development Planning Office introduced the status of first-class discipline construction.

Liu Jianping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Hubei University, noted that since Hubei Province launched the breakthrough action for first-class discipline construction in provincial universities at the end of 2022, Hubei University has proactively planned ahead, addressing shortcomings and strengthening weak areas. A series of core indicators related to professional talents, platforms, projects, and other aspects crucial to disciplinary breakthroughs, as well as the work laying foundations and defining initial structures of Hubei University’s future development, have been steadily promoted, thus the direction of first-class discipline development has become increasingly epitomized. During the next phase, Hubei University should focus on biomanufacturing, a newly-emerging national strategic industry, seize the important window of opportunity, strengthen our confidence, pursue bold reforms, and collaborate on key technological challenges to strive for breakthroughs in critical core technologies, driving overall progress in discipline construction.
