"Together towards the Future —The 13th Education Exchanges and Chinese Culture Tour for University Teachers from the Taiwan region" was held at Hubei University on October 10. Univesity teachers and students cross-Strait gathered at the shore of Shahu Lake participating in academic and cultural exchanges. Participants of the welcoming ceremony include 15 representatives of teachers and students from Tsing Hua University (of the Taiwan region), Sun Yat-sen University(of the Taiwan region), Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Chung Hsing University (of the Taiwan region), and more than 50 representatives of teachers and students from Taiwan Scholar Association, Wuhan University and Hubei University.
Li Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Hubei University, stated in her speech that despite the distance by Taiwan Strait, we are still connected by bonds of kinship and rooted in the same culture. Hubei University continues to actively build a platform for youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to be united and friendly, and maintain close ties with each other, to carry out cooperation on scientific research and establish people-to-people exchanges, jointly exploring the extensive and profound Chinese culture and enjoying the deep friendship cross-Strait. Hubei University also enhances practical cooperation in study tours, academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and social services with universities in the Taiwan region, to jointly facilitate the discipline development of cross-Strait universities and promote cross-Strait economic and social development.
Chen Yunying, President of Taiwan Scholar Association, expected that more exchanges can be held to promote cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in professional fields and the integration of Industry-University-Research. In this respect, all Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait can exchange ideas and increase trust, and jointly promote cross-Strait cooperation and integration.
Focusing on the themes of "education" and "culture", this event held a series of activities, such as seminars on higher education, academic exchanges on new materials, lectures on Chinese history and Jing-chu culture, tours to the East Lake Greenway, trying a driverless Apollo Go Robotaxi, and experiencing of Han embroidery, a kind of intangible cultural heritage. These events make young people from the mainland and Taiwan of China more interdependent, learn from each other, and enhance consensus, deepening friendship between youth cross-Strait and jointly promoting cross-Strait integration and development.
