Hubei University holds International Society of Sport Psychology Think Tank 2024

The International Society of Sport Psychology Think Tank 2024 on the theme of "The Role of Environment in Athlete Mental Health" was held from October 27 to 30 at Hubei University. The conference, hosted by the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP) and organized by Hubei University, invited researchers and practitioners worldwide to share their their insights and efforts for the improvement of athlete mental health.


At the opening ceremony, Hou Yong, Deputy Secretary of CPC Hubei University Committee, introduced the general profile of Hubei University, and initiatives and achievements in international exchange and cooperation . On behalf of Hubei University, Hou extended warm congratulations on the opening of the conference and sincere welcome to all the experts coming from afar. Prof. Kristoffer Henrikson, Vice President of the International Society of Sport Psychology, Think Tank Coordinator, and faculty member at the University of Southern Denmark, provided an overview of the conference background and main objectives on behalf of the ISSP. He also expressed his gratitude to Hubei University for its excellent organization, efficient cooperation and the enthusiastic service of volunteers. Directors from the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the School of Physical Education attended the opening ceremony. Professor Huang Zhijian, an ISSP Executive Committee member from the School of Physical Education, presided over the opening ceremony.


After the opening ceremony, 8 think tank experts from the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, and Taiwan region and Hong Kong region of China engaged in a two-day closed-door discussion on the set topics. They initially established a classification and a hierarchical model of elements influencing athlete mental health, listed specific environmental factors, and proposed suggestions for future research and practical application.
