Hubei University wins gold at the 14th "Challenge Cup" QinChuangYuan Platform National College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition

The 14th "Challenge Cup" QinChuangYuan Platform National College Students' Entrepreneurship Competition concluded at Xi'an Jiaotong University on November 2, with Hubei University winning 1 gold and 4 bronze awards.

The project "Enzymatic Liberation from 'Plastic' Constraints, Swift Resolution to 'Plastic' Warfare - Pioneers in Plastic Circular Economy," guided by teachers at the School of Life Sciences and the School of Business, including Yang Yu, Zhou Ming, Min Jian, and completed by Li Aiguo, Zhou Jingcheng, and Pakistani student Zeenat, won the gold award (the top prize) in the "Belt and Road" International invitational. The team, based  on the State Key Laboratory of Bio-catalysis and Enzyme Engineering, developed a highly efficient plastic-degrading enzyme that enables the efficient conversion of raw materials, allowing for the recyclable use of plastic with a pollution-free process. Additionally, 3 projects won bronze awards in the main competition session, and 1 project won bronze award in the “Belt and Road” International Invitational.

The "Challenge Cup" series is honored as the "Olympics" of Chinese college students' scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship, for it is the most representative, authorative, iconic and guiding college students competition in China. This year's event attracted over 3 million students from more than 2,700 universities, with 390,000 innovative and entrepreneurial projects submitted.
