Soka University Delegation visits Hubei University

A 100-member delegation from Japan's Soka University visited Hubei University for cultural exchanges on March 5. Si Qingchuan,member of Foreign Affairs Office of Hubei Provincial People's Governmentand  Vice President of the Hubei Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Wang Lei, Director of Department of East Asian Affairs at the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Director of Department of Political Exchanges of China-Japan Friendship Association, and Li Zhen, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei University Committee attended the exchange activities. Participants of the activities included directors from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Hubei Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Hubei University, as well as Chinese and Japanese faculty and student representatives.



Li Zhen extended a warm welcome to Soka University Delegation and briefly introduced Hubei University’s development and international exchanges. He emphasized the long-standing connections between Hubei University and Soka University, noting that Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, founder of Soka University, serves as an honorary professor at Hubei University, as Hubei University has officially established a cooperative partnership with Soka University since an academic exchange agreement was signed in 2017. He looked forward to a closer tie between Chinese and Japanese youth in communication and mutual understanding, so as to further strengthen the friendly exchanges between the two universities.

Yamato Fukuyoshi, Head of Soka University Delegation, showed his gratitude for the warm reception by Hubei University. He expressed his expectation of facilitating academic exchanges between the two universities, promoting friendships among students, and creating a future of friendship through communication and mutual learning.

Chinese and Japanese student representatives introduced intangible cultural heritage in China and Japan respectively. Members from Soka University Delegation have also immersed themselves in traditional Chinese culture and  crafts: participating in seal cutting to appreciate the artistry, engaging in a wonderful dragon and lion dance with a lively atmosphere on site, and  making lacquer fans to  experience the beauty of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
