Recently, the 2025 Asia Pacific Statistics and Data Science Academic Conference and the 13th Asia-Pacific University Student Market Research Competition Finals were held in Malaysia. A team from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Hubei University, guided by Xu Fang and Liu Songlin, advanced to the finals for the first time and won the first prize with their high-quality research results.

The team of Hubei University, consisting of students from the School of Mathematics and Statistics and the Business School, secured the national first prize after progressing through campus selections, provincial rounds, and highly competitive national competitions. This achievement also qualified them to compete in the 13th Asia-Pacific University Student Market Research Competition Finals, making them the only team from Hubei province to advance to the Asia-Pacific competition. The team’s project focused on the preservation and renewal of Tanhualin Historical and Cultural Block in Wuhan, integrating cultural heritage inheritance with urban development needs. They proposed a practical and innovative approach that not only reflected Hubei University students’ in-depth exploration of local culture but also demonstrated their academic ability to apply statistical and data science methods to real-world problems. Highly praised by the judging panel, the team ultimately won the first prize at the Asia-Pacific competition.
