Hubei University wins 2 silver prizes in the 2025 National College Foreign Language Contest

The National Final of the 2025 FLTRP·ETIC Cup "Understanding Contemporary China" (UCC) National College Foreign Language Contest, Organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University and hosted by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, concluded in Beijing on December 8th. Students from Hubei University achieved notable success, securing two national Silver Prizes in the Chinese Short Video Sub-contest and English Short Video Sub-contest.


In the Chinese Short Video Sub-contest, the entry Beautiful Hubei: My Bridge, created by BARRETO DE LIMA OTAVIO NATHAN (Chinese name: Liang Ningyao), a Brazilian student from Hubei University, under the guidance of teachers including Li Linfeng, Lu Xiaoli, and Li Zengtian, stood out among numerous submissions and won a national Silver Prize. Drawing ingeniously on the character Liang” (meaning “bridge”) from the contestant’s Chinese name and incorporating elements of Chinese calligraphy, the work expresses his profound reflections and sincere aspiration to serve as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and Brazil, earning unanimous praise from the judges.


In the English Short Video Sub-contest, the entry Echoes in Shadow, created by Liu Wenqi, Zhou Yifang, and Wu Jinyi under the guidance of teachers including Wen Zhihan and Zhou Yunyun from the School of Foreign Languages at Hubei University, won a national Silver Prize for its distinctive creativity, solid command of English, and refined narrative skills.
