From December 20 to 21, the 2025 International Workshop on Innovative Applications of AI-Driven Digital Transformation was held at Hubei University. Under the theme “ Bridging the Cognitive Gap and Empowering the Future of Industry”, the workshop attracted over 300 experts and scholars from China, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Brazil, and other countries and regions, building a bridge for scientific and technological cooperation between China and the Middle East and Latin America. Liu Zhihong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of Hubei University and Vice President of the University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
During the keynote session, experts, scholars, and corporate executives, including Professor Daniyal Alghazzawi from King Abdulaziz University, Professor You Zhuhong from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Professor Zhong Weitao from SUPCON Technology Co., Ltd., Manager Dona Ali from Petromin Group, and General Manager Chen Hao from Hubei Hongtian Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., shared a wide range of achievements spanning theoretical frontiers and industrial practices in fields such as industrial AI, smart energy, medical diagnostics, educational innovation, process automation, and humanoid robots. Participants reached three key points of consensus. First, AI applications must address specific problems in real scenarios, avoiding adopting AI just for its own sake. Second, it is essential to strengthen process automation and data quality. Third, we should deepen industry-university-research collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The symposium also witnessed the inauguration of the “China-Saudi Arabia Joint Laboratory for AI and Digital Transformation” and the launch of its first three international cooperation projects. This laboratory is the first AI research platform jointly established by a provincial-level university in Hubei and a Saudi university, focusing on in-depth collaboration in smart manufacturing, energy optimization, and cybersecurity.
The symposium was held in a hybrid format, combining online and on-site participation. It was jointly organized by the School of Computer Science, Hubei University, the Hubei Key Laboratory of Big Data Intelligent Analysis and Industry Applications, and the Key Laboratory of Intelligent Perception Systems and Security (Ministry of Education). Digital China (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd. and Hubei Hongtian Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. served as supporting organizations.
