The final of 8th SFLEP Cup National College Students’ Intercultural Competence Contest, guided by the China Education Association for International Exchange, hosted by Shanghai International Studies University and organized by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, took place from December 11 to 14. The student team from Hubei University won the second prize in the international students category.

Guided by Teacher Lu Xiaoli, Li Linfeng and Li Zengtian, students CONCEICAO DE MADRE DE DEUS JUDICILEY from SAO Tome and Principe, MIGUEL DE OLIVEIRA MANACERO and PAULINE SILVA RODRIGUES from Brazil completed the original intercultural case “The Dragon's Harmony: Unified Symbols, Shared Colors”. The case demonstrates the intercultural differences in cultural symbols, high- and low- context communication styles and symbolic meaning of colors. While promoting traditional Chinese culture, it exemplifies the philosophy of “respecting differences and embracing diversity” in intercultural communication.
