Recently, the China Education Association for International Exchange and the Hubei Provincial Education Association for International Exchange announced the results of the 2025 evaluation for Outstanding Courses on China’s National Conditions for International Students in China and Social Practice Activity Bases for Chinese and International Youth. Hubei University’s courses History and Culture of the State of Chu and Introducing China in English were selected respectively as a national-level and a provincial-level Outstanding Course on China’s National Conditions for International Students in China. In addition, three social practice bases were approved as provincial-level Social Practice Activity Bases for Chinese and International Youth.

The course History and Culture of the State of Chu delves deeply into the essence of regional culture, using Chu artifacts as a medium to provide a systematic introduction to Chu culture from multiple perspectives, including history, customs, clothing, bronzeware, and Chu-period bamboo slips. It guides international students to fully appreciate the diversity and inclusiveness of Chinese culture, while promoting the external dissemination of regional culture and enhancing the international image of the Chu region. The course Introducing China in English focuses on traditional Chinese culture and covers 13 themes, including Confucianism and Taoism, architecture, cuisine, and clothing. It aims to help international students gain an in-depth understanding of the essence and development of Chinese civilization and to effectively tell China’s stories well to the world.

The three provincial-level social practice bases for Chinese and international youth—the Hubei Digital New Media Cultural Visiting and Practice Base of Hubei Radio and Television Station International Communication Center, the Experience Center of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hubei University, and the Hubei University Social Practice Activity Base for Chinese and International Youth—are jointly established by the university, the Changjiang International Communication Center, and Shitouju Town of Yingshan County. Focusing on themes such as digital people-to-people exchanges, traditional cultural experiences, and rural revitalization practice, these social practice bases provide Chinese and international youth with hands-on, participatory, and immersive learning experiences, while serving as a solid bridge for fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange between China and other countries.

The university will continue to deepen reforms in courses on China’s national conditions and the development of social practice bases, promoting the internationalization of its high-quality educational resources. It aims to cultivate more well-rounded international talents who develop understanding, friendship, and appreciation for China, and can effectively tell China’s stories well, make Chinas voice heard. These efforts will further enhance the reputation of the Hubei University for international students, advance the connotative development in the internationalization of education, and contribute to China’s goal of high-level education opening to the world.
