From June 14 to 20, a delegation of 12 teachers and students from The Education University of Hong Kong visited Hubei University to participate in an academic, practical and cultural exchange activity titled “Research on Innovative Models and Practical Applications of Pre-service Teacher Education Empowered by AI: A Regional Comparative and Collaborative Exploration between Universities in Hubei and Hong Kong.” Teachers and students from Hubei and Hong Kong conducted in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics in smart education, while enhancing friendship and building consensus through cultural exchanges.

During the activity, the two sides held multiple thematic academic salons. Teachers from both universities delivered keynote lectures titled “Innovative Paths for AI-Integrated Education” and “Cultivation of Creative Thinking and Educational Practice,” respectively. Teachers and students engaged in enthusiastic discussions on topics including intelligent classroom design. They also visited Shenlong Primary School in Wuhan City to conduct observations into its digital-based education evaluation system, observed a real-life mathematics class incorporating AI tools, and learnt advanced experiences in smart campus development. During the cultural experience activities, the participants visited the Hubei Provincial Museum, the Yellow Crane Tower and the East Lake, gaining an appreciation of the profound heritage of Jingchu culture. At the outcomes exchange session, students from both universities shared their learning experiences based on their respective majors, focusing on themes such as “AI-Enabled Classroom Teaching” and “Cultivation of Core Competencies of Pre-service Teachers.”

The delegation expressed that this exchange broadened their academic horizons and deepened their understanding of educational development on the mainland as well as Jingchu culture. They called for more Hong Kong young people to come to Hubei for study and research in the future, so that they can personally experience the province’s strengths in science, education and its cultural charm.

The activity was funded by the Ministry of Education’s “faculty and student exchange programs” Organized by Hubei University and hosted by its Normal School, the project aims to establish a regular platform for exchanges among young education scholars from Hubei and Hong Kong, promote the joint construction and sharing of educational resources, and facilitate mutual learning and exchanges among young people.
